On March 26, France beat Croatia in the quarter-finals of the Nations League to qualify for the semi-finals, and Football Écologie France was on hand with its #TousEcoSupporters stand on the forecourt of the Stade de France for an unprecedented awareness-raising operation. Here's a look back at this major step towards a more responsible sport.

An unprecedented system at the heart of the FFF's commitment plan

Alongside the French Football Federation, and with the participation of a number of committed players - Play International, Planet Sporting Club, Ecolosport, Climate Workout - the association has co-constructed a unique scheme to invite Les Bleus fans to get involved in eco-friendly soccer too.

The event, part of the FFF's Commitment Plan, offered fun, interactive workshops on a number of key themes:

  • Raising awareness of environmental issues related to sport,

  • Promote a daily practice of sport compatible with planetary limits,

  • Provide information on individual and collective carbon footprints,

  • Encourage everyone to take action.

Several hundred supporters of the French national team were able to learn about the issue in a friendly, educational and engaging atmosphere. Proof that soccer and ecology can work together to convey strong messages, even just a few minutes before a decisive match.

Deployment to continue over the coming months

On May 30, a similar scheme will be set up in Nancy, during Les Bleues' match against Switzerland, with the same objective: to transform fans of the French teams into players in the ecological transition.

These actions are part of a wider dynamic, as we will also be taking part in other FFF events, such as the U13 Pitch Finals in Capbreton in June, enabling us to reach different audiences.

Through its commitment, the FFF is helping to open new doors, and the number of projects is growing, with the aim of placing ecological issues at the heart of soccer practice and culture. These events around matches are just one of the ways in which this commitment can be put into practice. At the same time, Football Ecologie France is continuing its close collaboration with the French Football Federation through other projects, notably on training and awareness-raising issues, but also in conjunction with the Football Leagues and Districts, in order to take action at all levels of French soccer: players, volunteers, managers, educators and, of course, fans.
